CCJ (County Court Judgment)

A County Court Judgment is a court order issued against someone who has failed to repay money they owe. In the UK, a CCJ stays on your credit file for six years and significantly damages your credit score, making it harder and more expensive to borrow. If you pay a CCJ in full within one month it can be removed from the register.

Example

If you have an unpaid CCJ from 2022, it will remain on your credit file until 2028, appearing in lender credit checks throughout that period.
